Real Stories, Real Growth

I currently see Cristiana at SOS counseling, She has been my therapist for almost two years. My five year old had a lot of anxiety starting kindergarten, I of course expressed this during one of my sessions. Not only did Cristina give me techniques to calm my daughter down, she also immediately got my daughter into a session. She made her so comfortable in office, utilizing games and activities. During a session she made bracelets with my daughter, as they were beading she asked her questions about her anxiety. Cristina then showed my daughter how she can utilize the bracelet that she made to calm herself down during school (counting the beads, singing songs in her head while moving them back and forth” Needless to say she genuinely cares about her clients, and I’m so grateful for her.

The SOS team and Cristina have been working with me for many years, I am forever grateful for their care, flexibility, and dedication to me and my needs. I have referred several friends to their practice as well who feel the same as I do. No other counseling center has provided to me the attention and care like SOS has.

I can’t say enough about the support I’ve received from Mrs. Serrano at SOS Counseling Center, Inc. She has walked with me through some of the heaviest periods of my life—helping me navigate difficult relationships, process the loss of a loved one, and explore complex topics, both personal and professional. Her guidance has been invaluable, especially when discussing the challenges that arise in the workforce and the political climate that often shapes our view of society. What I deeply appreciate is that Mrs. Serrano is always responsive when I need additional support, offering to schedule sessions as needed while maintaining professionalism and clear, respectful boundaries. The care I’ve received from her and SOS Counseling Center, Inc. has been a lifeline, and I wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone facing tough times. Their support truly makes a difference.

Why SOS was created

SOS Counseling Center was born out of a life-changing moment in my own journey—one that left me feeling lost, unheard, and without a safe space to express what I was really going through. At the time, no one talked about mental health. There was no open dialogue, no safe outlet, and no one who seemed to understand. I carried my pain in silence—and I promised myself that no one else should ever have to do the same.

I created SOS to be the space I needed back then:
A place where every person, no matter who they are or what they’re facing, can feel seen, heard, and supported. A place where vulnerability is met with compassion, and healing is possible.

We believe in the power of self-care, coping skills, and prioritizing your own well-being—especially in a world where we’re often expected to put others first. It’s easy to forget ourselves, our needs, and what truly brings us joy.

This is your reminder: You matter.
Taking care of your mental health is not selfish—it’s essential.
And reaching out for help is one of the strongest things you can do.

I also created SOS to be a model for my children—to show them that it’s not only okay to love and care for yourself, but that it’s something to be proud of. This center stands for finding your SOS ( Sense of Self ), even when life gets hard.

This is your first step. We’re here to walk it with you.
